John's niece, Ralph Widdicombe, joined him as a designer, and eventually became known as the furniture design Dean. They had to work together for 53 years until John retired in 1951. The company continued its business until May 2002, when the Grand Rapids factory was closed and assets were bought by L. & J.G. Stickley.
Now it operates as a division of Stickley in Manlius, New York.
